Artificial intelligence (KI) means that a computer solves tasks that can otherwise only be handled by a human being: playing chess or evaluating and interpreting data. The machine copies human or rational thinking and behavior, based on logic, for example.

Those who want to delve deeper into the subject, encounter various explanations for the term artificial intelligence. As a beginner, this is confusing and not enlightening at first. This circumstance is one of the inspirations for our blog. Not to enrich the Internet with another definition. But to show that this confusion exists and that even experts do not provide a uniform description. Even specialist books mention several different explanations. So you can stop looking for "the right definition".

Instead, it depends on the perspective of the individual , as so often in science. Artificial intelligence is a universal subject area that touches on several other topics: psychology, Mathematics, biology, linguistics, economics and even philosophy. No wonder, then, that there are also numerous approaches to the definition of the concept. Marvin Minsky, a pioneer of AI, called Intelligence in this context a suitcase word. Terms with which we mean many things, so that we can speak abbreviated about complex questions.

In principle, strong and weak artificial intelligence is distinguished. weak ki Narrow AI refers to machine-based systems designed to solve a specific problem. This includes, for example, the image or speech recognition based on the Pinterest lens or Google home.  strong Ki General AI refers to the ability of machines to independently solve various problems or tasks – just like a human being. This form of AI is currently being explored. However, experts assume that it will take decades for strong AI to be operational.

My conclusion: To want to understand artificial intelligence in its entirety sounds like a life task. And after at least five other degrees.
